The Mining Shop UK Refund and Returns Policy
1. Scope and Customer Status
This policy distinguishes Business Customers from Consumers by the buyer's actual purpose. Our direct website is primarily B2B, but a home-miner product expressly offered to individuals, or a qualifying eBay, Amazon or Google Merchant transaction, may be a Consumer sale. A platform tag, invoice, analytics source, account history or automated WooCommerce classification cannot remove a statutory right.
If a direct order is outside our supported Consumer route, we may reject or cancel it before acceptance and refer the buyer to a consumer platform. If we accept a Consumer contract, full consumer remedies apply.
2. Cancellation and Fault Rights
2.1 Consumer distance cancellation. For an eligible standard product bought at distance, a Consumer may cancel within 14 days after physical delivery without giving a reason, then has a further 14 days to send the goods back. Statutory exceptions may apply to genuinely bespoke goods and certain sealed goods, but opening ordinary packaging solely to inspect a miner does not automatically remove the right.
2.2 Information and form. Cancellation may be made by any clear statement to [email protected] or by using our Model Cancellation Form. The form is optional.
2.3 Return cost and handling. The Consumer pays direct return postage only where this was disclosed before the contract and the law permits it. We may deduct only an evidenced loss in value caused by handling beyond what is necessary to establish nature, characteristics and functioning.
2.4 Fault rights. Faulty, damaged, unsafe, misdescribed, incorrectly supplied or undelivered goods retain applicable statutory and contractual remedies. A Consumer may have the short-term right to reject, repair or replacement and, where available, price reduction or final rejection. Business remedies follow the contract and Sale of Goods Act 1979.
3. When Equipment Can Come Back to Us
Equipment may return through these routes:
- Dead on arrival. Report a first-power failure within 7 calendar days, or within 72 hours of first power-on if unboxed later, for expedited handling. Missing this preferred window does not automatically remove a later warranty or contractual right.
- Transit damage or shortage. Record visible issues on delivery, keep packaging and report them promptly. See the Delivery and Shipping Policy.
- Incorrect item. Tell us promptly and we will arrange correction at our cost where confirmed.
- Warranty claim. Faults during the warranty term follow the Warranty Policy.
- Paid repair. Out-of-warranty or customer-caused damage may be handled under our Repairs Terms.
- Discretionary return. We may agree another return in writing under section 5.
4. Return Authorisation (RMA) Process
4.1 Obtain written authorisation and an RMA number before sending equipment. Email [email protected] with the invoice number, device serial, issue and useful evidence.
4.2 Use the original serial-labelled packaging where available, or packaging we confirm is suitable. A missing box does not by itself invalidate a valid claim, but inadequate packaging or an unverifiable serial may delay assessment.
4.3 Package the device securely and use adequately insured carriage. You are responsible for return-transit damage except where we arranged the carriage or the law provides otherwise.
4.4 The customer normally pays inbound carriage. If we confirm our fault or mis-shipment, we reimburse reasonable agreed carriage. Ask us for customs instructions before an international return; never state a false customs value.
4.5 Targets. We aim to acknowledge claims within 2 business days, inspect within 5 business days of receipt and communicate the proposed remedy promptly. These are service targets, not guaranteed deadlines.
5. Business Discretionary Returns and Consumer Condition
5.1 B2B discretion. A Business Customer has no automatic change-of-mind right. We may authorise a return in writing, normally requested within 14 days, and may apply the disclosed 30% restocking charge plus VAT where lawful. It never applies to our confirmed fault, transit damage, mis-shipment or a valid Consumer cancellation.
5.2 Consumer condition. No restocking fee applies to a valid Consumer cancellation. Only statutory diminished-value deductions may be made.
5.3 Website and marketplaces. Website goods are new. Used or refurbished goods may be sold on eBay only where condition is explicit; marketplace return rules and mandatory rights apply in addition.
6. Credits, Refund Method and Timing
6.1 Refund timing. A Consumer cancellation refund is made without undue delay and normally within 14 days after we receive the goods or evidence of return, subject to the statutory rules. Fault and B2B refunds follow the accepted remedy.
6.2 Original method. Refunds normally use the original payment method. Bank and card refunds return through the original route unless otherwise agreed lawfully.
6.3 Crypto. Blockchain payments are technically final, and we do not offer discretionary B2B crypto change-of-mind refunds. This does not exclude a refund required by Consumer law or for faulty, misdescribed or undelivered goods. Any required or approved crypto refund is subject to full proportionate KYC, sanctions, source-of-funds and wallet-control checks and is sent only to the original wallet unless law requires otherwise. Our default basis is the original crypto units received, subject to the GBP amount legally due, lawful deductions and network fees disclosed before sending.
6.4 Records. We record approvals, valuation source and time, original and refund transaction hashes, wallet, screening and reason.
7. Customer Responsibilities
7.1 Due diligence. Customers are responsible for their own technical, financial and legal due diligence before purchasing mining equipment. Mining returns move with cryptocurrency prices, network difficulty and electricity costs; we do not promise any level of earnings and are not liable for changes in profitability.
7.2 Professional electrical installation. Mining devices draw high power and produce significant heat. Installation must comply with relevant electrical standards, including BS 7671, and be verified by a qualified electrician: circuits, cables, plugs, breakers and PDUs must safely accommodate each device's published specifications. Any included cable or plug is provided for convenience and may not suit every environment.
7.3 We are not responsible for damage to devices, premises or other property, or for personal injury, arising from improper installation, overloaded circuits, unsuitable cables or connectors, failure to follow operating instructions, poor ventilation, humidity or dust, or non compliance with local regulations. If you lack suitable infrastructure, our hosting services provide professionally managed environments.
Common Questions
Can I return a miner because I changed my mind?
A Business Customer has no automatic change-of-mind right, although we may agree a discretionary return subject to the B2B terms above. A Consumer has the 14-day cancellation right for an eligible standard physical product, subject to statutory exceptions and condition rules.
Does the 30% restocking fee apply to consumers?
No. It applies only to an agreed B2B discretionary return. A valid Consumer cancellation may be reduced only as permitted by consumer law, such as for excessive handling that diminishes value.
What if my miner arrives dead or faulty?
Report it promptly for expedited handling. A preferred reporting window does not remove a mandatory consumer or later valid warranty right.
What if delivery is damaged?
Record the damage, keep the packaging and contact us promptly with evidence and the consignment number.
Who owns coins mined before a return?
The Customer does. We do not claim or deduct the value of customer-mined cryptocurrency.
How long do consumer refunds take?
For a change-of-mind cancellation, normally no later than 14 days after we receive the goods or evidence they were sent, subject to the rules in section 6.
Summary only: these answers do not replace the full policy above.
8. Limitation of Liability
8.1 Subject to clause 8.2, our total liability for claims connected with this policy, including negligence, is limited to the original purchase price of the products in question. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits or lost mining rewards.
8.2 Nothing in this policy excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability which cannot be excluded under English law. Limitations are intended to satisfy the reasonableness requirement of the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977.
9. Final Provisions
9.1 This policy, together with the applicable Order Confirmation, the General Terms and Conditions and the specialised policies they reference, is the entire agreement on returns and refunds. If any provision is held invalid, the remainder stays in force.
9.2 We may amend this policy at any time; the version in effect at the date of purchase governs your transaction.
9.3 Relevant legislation for business sales includes the Sale of Goods Act 1979, the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982 and the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977. Health and Safety Executive guidance applies to electrical installation and safe operation of high power equipment.
