Warranty Policy
1. Our Cover
1.1 This policy applies to new, unused devices purchased directly from The Mining Shop UK Limited, supplied to business customers for professional environments. We do not sell used or refurbished miners; in the rare event an ex demo or factory refurbished unit is supplied by written agreement, the terms on that quotation or invoice override these general terms. Units bought through our eBay or Amazon listings are covered by the warranty terms stated on the relevant listing, not this policy.
1.2 Term and start date. You receive 12 months of cover starting from your delivery or invoice date. Many manufacturers start the clock at the factory batch date, which can shorten real cover; where the manufacturer's term is shorter because of batch dating, we top it up so you still receive the full year.
1.3 UK service. Claims are handled at our UK repair centre in Hartlepool with priority lab service. Many repairs complete within 1 to 2 weeks, though turnaround is indicative and varies with fault, parts availability, shipping and workload.
1.4 Extension. Cover can be extended within 30 days of the original order under our Service and Repair Plan: 6 additional months for £1,200 excluding VAT, or 12 additional months for £1,600 excluding VAT, to a maximum of 24 months in total. The plan is a service agreement providing diagnosis and repair or replacement of defective parts; it provides no cash payments, is non refundable, and covers mechanical and electrical failure from normal use, not accidental damage, misuse or non compliant installation. If a unit is replaced under the standard warranty, purchased extended cover transfers to the replacement for the remaining term.
2. What Is Covered
- Hash boards, including material defects and sustained performance below 90 percent of specification.
- The power supply unit, internal or external.
- The control board and core electronics.
- Manufacturing defects and workmanship issues.
Every unit is bench tested and logged before dispatch or installation, giving us a baseline to compare against during any claim, with a photo and video record on file.
Performance standard. We allow an operational variance of 5 percent either side of the rated hashrate provided stability is maintained. Final performance is assessed on a 24 hour pool side average under standard conditions; sustained performance below 90 percent of specification qualifies for service.
3. What Is Not Covered
- Unauthorised opening, modification or component swaps without our written consent, and broken or tampered warranty seals.
- Damage from incorrect pool or stratum configuration, third party or custom firmware, unsafe overclock or overvolt profiles, or failed customer firmware updates.
- Improper airflow or hot air recirculation, moisture, condensation, corrosive atmospheres, severe dust ingress, or operation outside the manufacturer's stated temperature, humidity, altitude or electrical limits.
- Physical damage such as drops, dents and cracks, and cosmetic damage not affecting function.
- Immersion or hydro cooling on devices not rated for those methods, or cooling systems and fluids not sourced from our approved suppliers or incorrectly installed.
- Unsafe or non compliant electrical installation, including undersized cable, overloaded circuits or PDUs, poor earthing and missing protective devices, and fire or heat damage arising from such setups.
- Power events including surges, spikes, brown outs, phase imbalance, over voltage and under voltage.
- Fans, which are consumables after 6 months of operation; premature fan failure within the first 6 months may be covered where a manufacturing defect is evidenced. Thermal paste and pads are consumables.
- Lightning, flood and other force majeure events, and units purchased from non authorised resellers or with altered or removed serial labels.
Your responsibilities. Keep the original serial labelled packaging for the warranty period, install on dedicated professionally installed circuits with correct protection, operate within the stated specifications with proper airflow, retain your invoice, and provide serial numbers and diagnostic logs on request.
4. How to Claim
4.1 Email [email protected] with your invoice number, the device serial and a description of the issue, attaching a full kernel log, a miner status snapshot, temperature readings, photos of the serial label, and a short video for intermittent faults. Await your RMA number and instructions before shipping anything.
4.2 Return the unit in the original serial labelled box; the box serial must match the device serial or the warranty is void. Photos of intact warranty seals may be required.
4.3 Response times. Initial response within 2 business days, inspection within 5 business days of receipt, and the repair or replace decision within 2 business days after inspection.
4.4 Dead on arrival. Report DOA within 7 days of delivery, or within 72 hours of first power on if unboxed later, for expedited handling. Serial discrepancies should be reported within 48 hours of delivery.
4.5 Shipping. The customer arranges and funds shipping to our UK lab; where a manufacturing fault or mis-shipment is verified we credit reasonable carriage. For international returns the consignee is importer of record unless agreed otherwise. If a device must go to the manufacturer's repair centre, the associated shipping, insurance and clearance costs are the customer's.
5. Remedies and Limits
5.1 Warranty remedies are repair, replacement or parts supply at our discretion. We do not issue cash refunds under warranty. Where only some hash boards fail we repair or replace the affected boards; a unit still below the 90 percent threshold after remediation qualifies for further action.
5.2 Repair or replace threshold. If a quoted repair exceeds 60 percent of the unit's current replacement value we may supply an equivalent replacement, new or refurbished, at our discretion. Where neither repair nor replacement is reasonably available we may offer account credit or equivalent hashrate for a defined period, agreed in writing. A replacement does not extend the original term unless required by law or expressly agreed.
5.3 Repeated failures. If the same fault recurs more than three times within the term, we may offer a replacement of equal or better performance, or account credit, rather than continuing repairs.
5.4 Continuity. Where available we may provide equivalent hashrate during extended repairs, within 15 percent of the device's rated hashrate, with power consumption varying by up to 25 percent; the customer covers hosting fees and electricity for the temporary hashrate.
5.5 Batch defects. If a manufacturer announces a known batch defect affecting your serial range, we coordinate the repair, patch or replacement path and prioritise your RMA.
5.6 Rectification may take up to 12 weeks in complex cases. We are not liable for mining rewards lost during diagnostics, repair or transit, and pool, wallet and configuration data are your responsibility to back up; settings may be reset during service.
5.7 Liability. Our total liability under this warranty shall not exceed the original purchase price of the unit, excluding liability that cannot be excluded by law, including death or personal injury caused by negligence and fraud. Where a claim is found invalid, the customer pays postage, inspection, return carriage and any duties or clearance fees.
5.8 Hosting. When your miner is hosted with us, this warranty continues to apply unless expressly varied in your hosting agreement, and we may perform OEM firmware updates or routine service with your authorisation.
5.9 Warranties are non transferable except with our written consent. Products comply with WEEE and RoHS; dispose of end of life equipment under local electronic waste regulations, or ask us about recycling and collection. We may update these terms with 30 days notice; updates do not affect claims already in progress.
Common Questions
When does my 12 months start?
From your delivery or invoice date, not the factory batch date. If the manufacturer's own term is shorter because of batch dating, we top it up to the full year.
Where are repairs done?
At our UK repair centre in Hartlepool, with many repairs completed within 1 to 2 weeks. Turnaround is indicative, not promised.
Can I extend the warranty?
Yes, within 30 days of your order: 6 extra months for £1,200 excluding VAT or 12 extra months for £1,600 excluding VAT, to a 24 month maximum.
My hashrate is a little below spec. Is that a fault?
A variance of up to 5 percent with stable operation is within tolerance. Sustained performance below 90 percent of specification on a 24 hour pool side average qualifies for service.
Are fans covered?
Fans are consumables after 6 months. A premature failure inside the first 6 months may be covered where a manufacturing defect is evidenced.
Do I get a refund if my miner cannot be fixed?
Warranty remedies are repair, replacement or parts supply. Where neither is reasonably available we may agree account credit or equivalent hashrate in writing; we do not issue cash refunds under warranty.
Does hosting with you affect my warranty?
No. The warranty keeps applying while your miner is hosted with us unless your hosting agreement expressly says otherwise.
