Health, Safety and Fire Policy
1. Commitment, Leadership and Responsibilities
The Mining Shop UK Limited is committed to preventing injury and ill health, providing safe working conditions and meeting applicable health, safety and fire-safety duties. Darren Waggott, Director, has overall accountability. Managers and competent advisers support implementation, while every worker must take reasonable care, follow instructions, use controls and report hazards, incidents and near misses.
This policy covers company-controlled shops, repair areas, offices, storage and work activities, and applies proportionately when personnel attend customer, supplier or hosting locations. The person controlling each non-domestic premises retains the duties assigned to it by law and contract.
Workers may stop work and raise a good-faith safety concern without retaliation. Safety takes priority over output, delivery deadlines and equipment uptime.
2. Risk Assessment and Core Controls
Suitable and sufficient risk assessments must identify who may be harmed and the controls required. Assessments are reviewed after material change, an incident, new equipment or evidence that controls may be ineffective.
- Electrical: competent design, inspection, protective devices, accessible isolation, lock-off where required and no live work unless legally justified and controlled.
- Heat and fire: adequate cooling, clear airflow, suitable separation from combustibles, housekeeping, detection, emergency isolation and maintained fire precautions.
- Noise: measurement or competent assessment, exposure reduction at source, restricted access, hearing protection where required and health surveillance where indicated.
- Handling and machinery: planned lifting, suitable equipment, stable storage, guarded moving parts and control of sharp or hot surfaces.
- Substances: assessment and control of cleaning agents, soldering materials, coolants, dielectric fluids, dust and damaged batteries.
- People: competence, induction, supervision, lone-working controls, welfare, first aid and reasonable adjustments.
Detailed arrangements are retained internally and linked to the relevant task, location and equipment.
3. Fire Prevention, Emergency Planning and Incidents
The responsible person for each applicable premises must maintain and review a fire-risk assessment, emergency plan, escape routes, alarms, emergency lighting, extinguishing equipment and staff information and training. Plans must consider visitors, contractors, disabled people, high electrical loads, batteries, fuels, cooling fluids and any dangerous substances present.
Emergency routes and isolation points must remain accessible. Nobody should fight a fire unless trained, it is safe to do so and escape remains available. In an emergency, protect life first, raise the alarm, evacuate and contact the emergency services.
Accidents, near misses, dangerous occurrences and occupational-health concerns must be reported, investigated proportionately and used to improve controls. Statutory reporting and record keeping will be completed where applicable.
4. Consultation, Training and Assurance
Employees and relevant contractors receive information, instruction, training and supervision appropriate to their work. Competence and authorisation are checked before electrical, repair, lifting, fire-safety or other higher-risk work. Workers are consulted on changes that may affect their health and safety.
The company monitors inspections, training, maintenance, incidents, corrective actions and risk-assessment reviews. Suppliers and contractors may be asked for competence, insurance, method, equipment and safety evidence proportionate to the work.
Customer installation duties remain explained in the Electrical Safety, Product Compliance and Recall Notice and ASIC Miner Noise and Hearing Safety Notice. This public summary does not replace site-specific risk assessments or emergency instructions.
