The Mining Shop UK Accessibility Statement
1. Our commitment
The Mining Shop UK wants www.theminingshop.co.uk to be usable by as many people as reasonably possible, including people who use keyboards, screen readers, magnification, voice input or other assistive technology.
We use Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA as our improvement target. This is a voluntary technical benchmark for our private-sector website and is not a claim that every page has passed every success criterion.
2. Current conformance position
The website is currently considered partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA because some legacy content and third-party components may not yet satisfy every criterion. We are continuing to audit and improve it.
The Equality Act 2010 may require reasonable adjustments by UK service providers. We will consider reasonable requests for assistance or an alternative way to access information or complete a transaction.
3. Accessibility measures
Measures used across the website include:
- semantic headings and labelled content regions on key pages;
- keyboard-accessible navigation and visible focus indicators;
- responsive layouts and text that can be enlarged using browser controls;
- descriptive link text and alternative text for meaningful images where available;
- labelled form controls, validation messages and status information where supported;
- colour and contrast choices intended to remain readable;
- reduced dependence on colour alone to communicate meaning; and
- ongoing checks when policy, checkout and major commercial pages are changed.
4. Known limitations
Known or possible limitations include:
- older product descriptions, supplier documents or historical articles with incomplete heading or alternative-text treatment;
- complex profitability tables, charts and calculators that may require further screen-reader or small-screen refinement;
- third-party checkout, payment, map, video, review, consent or authentication components whose accessibility we cannot fully control;
- manufacturer PDFs or technical documents that may not be fully tagged for assistive technology; and
- occasional focus, announcement or labelling limitations introduced by plugin or browser updates.
If a limitation prevents access, contact us and we will provide the information or a reasonable alternative where practicable.
5. Browser and assistive-technology compatibility
The website is intended to work with current versions of major browsers and commonly used assistive technologies. Very old or unsupported browsers may not display or announce every feature correctly.
The site relies on HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SVG and WAI-ARIA where appropriate. Disabling JavaScript may prevent checkout, consent, account or interactive tools from functioning fully.
6. Feedback and alternative formats
Email [email protected] or call 01429 408034 if you:
- cannot access part of the website;
- need information in a different format;
- find a keyboard, screen-reader, contrast, zoom or form problem; or
- need a reasonable communication adjustment.
Please provide the page address, what you were trying to do, the problem encountered and, if helpful, the browser or assistive technology used. Do not send passwords, private keys or unnecessary sensitive information.
7. Response and complaints
We aim to acknowledge accessibility feedback within two business days and provide an update or practical alternative within ten business days where reasonably possible. Complex technical fixes may take longer; we will explain the next step.
If you are dissatisfied with our response, use our Complaints Procedure. Personal data submitted with a request is handled under our Privacy Policy.
8. Assessment and review
This statement is based on internal review, automated testing and manual checks of representative pages. Automated tools cannot identify every accessibility issue. The statement and known limitations should be reviewed at least annually and after material redesigns or checkout changes.
